Many people enjoy measuring their skills against set standards or other people. Competitions range from a “shoot off” at your local range with your firearm buddy to elite international competition such as the Olympics. Some handguns are designed for competitive shooting. The more you practice, the better shooter you will be and the more likely you will be interested in competitive shooting. Watching a local or regional firearm competition is fun and educational.

If you are interested in target shooting, you should look for clubs in your area that promotes the type of competitive shooting you are interested in. Competition firearms often have special equipment and attachments and ammunition.
