State and local fish and wildlife agencies can be great source information on shooting ranges as well as hunting areas and regulations. Stay in touch with their websites, and subscribe to their newsletters to continue to learn of current conditions and situations. Public and private shooting ranges, gun clubs, hunting organizations, and organizational affiliated gun clubs and DNR ranges and courses are also great places to gain shooting information.

If you are interested in learning to hunt, your state agency also offers hunter education courses as well as many courses on outdoor skill building. Range days are also offered by your state wildlife agency, and many agencies have programs funded by the excise taxes collected from firearm and ammunition purchases that are specifically tailored to new firearm owners interested in building skills and competence with their new purchase.
