Every firearms owner should own the complete proper cleaning kit for their firearm. All cleaning kits are either caliber/gauge specific or universal (requiring caliber specific brushes and patches to be separately purchased), so when purchasing a cleaning kit, be sure to purchase the kit that is the correct caliber for your firearm. A cleaning kit should include:

  • Caliber/gauge-specific rod tips including brushes, mops, and slotted or jag tips
  • Bore light
  • Clean cloths
  • Cleaning rods
  • Cotton swabs
  • Dental mirror
  • Gun grease
  • Gun oil
  • Gunsmith screwdrivers
  • Patches appropriate for the caliber or gauge of the firearm
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Solvent
  • Stand to hold the firearm securely in a horizontal position
